WHO WE ARE
RASMI Relief & Development Organization (RASMI) is non-profit and non-governmental organization dedicated to provide emergency humanitarian services to Somali communities suffering from shocks of natural disaster and climate changes, while developing capacities and resilience of the Somali communities to withstand the shocks and emergencies in the future. The purpose of the establishment of this organization is to enable communities have increased equal access to humanitarian services including health, nutrition, WASH, Livelihood/Food security, Education and Protection, with focus on women and youth empowerment.
RASMI Relief & Development Organization (RASMI) was found in October, 2008 by Somali professional team, aiming to actively participate and contribute in emergency response for the drought and conflict affected communities, provide lifesaving services, deliver reliable high quality humanitarian services. (RASMI) gives more focus on advocacy of empowering women and youth.

Our vision is to provide quality, equitable, accessible, affordable and sustainable humanitarian services to all communities in Somalia through partnership with local authorities/communities/private sector and international organizations.

RASMI commits to minimize and reduce human suffering through provision of health, nutrition, WASH education, protection and livelihood services and strengthening the resilience and capacity of the communities to cope and withstand shocks during emergencies.

- Accountability & transparency: (RASMI) pledges to the principles of transparency and accountability in all programmatic and administrative activities.
- Humanitarian: We are guided by the humanitarian principle: to take all steps possible to prevent or alleviate human suffering wherever it occurs.
- Impartial: We act regardless of race, religion or political affiliation and make decisions based on outcomes of independent assessments.
- Inclusive: (RASMI) does not only have diverse individuals involved but, more importantly, it is a learning-centred organization that values the perspectives and contributions of all people, and it incorporates the needs, assets, and perspectives of communities. Furthermore, the organization recruits and retains diverse staff and volunteers to reflect the racial and ethnic composition of the communities they serve.

- To increase access to reliable and high quality of humanitarian services through direct implementation and close collaboration with community.
- To empower communities and alleviate poverty through provision of capacity development and skills.
- To build the resilience and capacity of the vulnerable community empowering them to withstand and cope the shocks in the future.
- To contribute revitalizing and energizing the local agriculture production aiming to boost the economy of the country.
- To provide life skills training and good governance to women and youth groups aiming to empower youth and women actively participate in management and leadership.

— Guiding Principles
- The value in providing a forum in which dignity and community self-empowerment is keystones to successful community interventions.
- Empowerment is actualized by guiding and assisting others to do for themselves rather than doing for others.
Illiteracy is not a disability, but rather a lack of skills.
- By involving the women and youth, we create continuity in information disseminated and lesson learned during implementation.
- Community resolutions are strengthened by equal opportunity for participation of all members.
